Upcoming Virtual Events

Unprecedented. A Vintage for the Books. Tumultuous.

Yes, harvest 2020 has surpassed each of those adjectives. 2020 has been my toughest vintage to date, and our winemaking challenges are well exposed. You’ve all probably seen pictures of blood red skies and blazing, orange sunsets. Other viral snapshots highlight a ridgeline of fire behind grapevines heavy with crop. Media might make you think harvest 2020 is doomed. “Cancel culture” is ubiquitous, but let’s not cancel harvest 2020 just yet.

I’ll be honest. It’s been a crazy few weeks, and I’m already looking ahead to harvest 2021. Certainly, this vintage has been one for the record books - and not a good way. 2020 heaped fire and smoke on top of COVID. And Sonoma is not unique. Every grape growing region from Santa Barbara to Sonoma, Oregon to Washington has been touched. So, let’s begin our next series of virtual events with a review of harvest 2020. I’ll be frank and update you on what I’ve done, what we know, and how this past 6 weeks has affected the Sonoma and Napa area as a whole. Grab a glass (or a tumbler, neat) of something, anything, and wear your poindexter caps. I’m about to get all volatile phenol on you! And I promise there’s good news, too. Bright beacons of yummy await in barrel (hello, Anderson Valley).

Following our harvest recap, I’m planning to revisit the fall allocation wines. Let’s plan this session for late October, after you’ve received your wines. Maybe we can open something together. I’ll do another deep dive into the Fall Release wines and give you a chance to sip along and share your initial impressions.

All events are at 5pm PT / 8pm ET on Zoom. Access using this link - https://zoom.us/j/6073704906
