Deer Meadows Vineyard

In 2010, we began sourcing our Anderson Valley fruit from Rich Savoy’s Deer Meadows site. Perhaps most famous for his eponymous “Savoy Vineyard” on the Anderson Valley floor, Deer Meadows has s storied history all its own. Deer Meadows is perched over 1000 feet above the valley floor. Access is treacherous, snaking along a dirt road where no minivan has ever gone before, except ours. It is the original site of Littorai’s cult “One Acre” pinot project and continues to lure top names in boutique pinot noir production. Anderson Valley’s cooler climate means a longer growing season, greater phenolic ripeness, and snappy acid retention. I love Anderson Valley pinot noir for a purity of red fruits like cranberry and cherry and its food friendly zing. Sommeliers like acid, and all three of our professional wine friends gravitate towards our Anderson Valley offerings first.
